The Brief – 360 Virtual Tour and Google Maps Tour
Kinross Wolaroi School, a prestigious boarding school in regional NSW, provides a dynamic learning environment with a strong emphasis on agriculture and holistic education. With students from across the state, the marketing team sought to enhance their Open Day experience by incorporating an interactive virtual tour, ensuring prospective families—especially those unable to attend in person—could still explore the school’s expansive grounds and facilities.
Recognising the importance of accessibility and innovation, the school went a step further by ensuring the 360 Virtual Tour was fully VR-compatible. To bring the experience to life, they sent Google Cardboard headsets to prospective students and their families, allowing them to engage in a true virtual reality experience from the comfort of their homes. This approach not only set them apart but also provided a deeper, more immersive connection to the school’s environment and offerings.
To further elevate the experience, we integrated 360-degree aerial drone photography, offering a breathtaking perspective of the vast campus. This birds-eye view allowed prospective students and parents to appreciate the scale and beauty of Kinross Wolaroi, while also visually connecting three key campuses/areas into a cohesive digital experience. By combining ground-level virtual tours with aerial perspectives, the school successfully showcased its state-of-the-art facilities, open green spaces, and agricultural programs in a way that traditional photography simply couldn’t achieve.
This strategic use of technology-driven storytelling strengthened Kinross Wolaroi School’s digital presence, ensuring that every potential student, no matter where they were located, could gain a sense of the school’s culture, learning environment, and opportunities before stepping foot on campus. 🚀
What We Loved About This Project
The grounds at Kinross Wolaroi School are absolutely stunning and span far as the eye can see. The expansive oval, hall, and even driving up between the trees is quite beautiful. Their fully equipped onsite farm with horses, cows, chicken and sheep was something different (especially as we are from Sydney and don’t see that every day).
On a side note, as mentioned above, this school is quite large. I believe I walked the most steps while on-site shooting a virtual tour at over 19,000 steps and 380+ sets of stairs in one day.
One of the most rewarding aspects of working with Kinross Wolaroi School has been witnessing the evolution of their virtual tour over time. The original shoot took place in 2021, capturing key areas of the campus and laying the foundation for a truly immersive experience. In 2022, the school expanded the tour, incorporating newly built spaces and— for the first time—360-degree drone photography. This addition provided a breathtaking aerial perspective, giving prospective students and their families a better sense of the scale and scope of the school’s three campuses.
Over the next two years, Kinross Wolaroi continued to refine and enhance their virtual tour, using it as a powerful engagement tool for prospective families. In 2025, we returned to update existing photography and capture new developments, ensuring that the tour remains fresh, relevant, and reflective of the school’s ongoing growth.
It has been incredibly rewarding to see how this project has evolved, adapting to the school’s needs and enhancing its digital presence. By maintaining and expanding their 360 Virtual Tour, Kinross Wolaroi School continues to offer remote families a detailed and engaging way to explore their facilities, ensuring that distance is no barrier to experiencing everything the school has to offer.
