The Brief – Virtual Tour & Google Maps Tour
Our team approached Our Lady of the Rosary Parish Kellyville as part of our ongoing work in the local area. During the planning, the parish was completing several site improvements, including installing solar panels. To present the church clearly and accurately, the project was scheduled once construction was finished and the grounds were fully prepared.
The parish aimed to improve how visitors find and understand the site before they arrive. With a large footprint, multiple entry points, and a spacious on-site car park, first-time visitors can benefit from seeing how the area is laid out in advance. The design of the tour was intended to visually connect the car park, surrounding grounds, and primary entrances, helping visitors orient themselves before attending a service or event.
Architecturally, the challenge was to capture the scale and layout of the building while highlighting the features that define the space. The interior includes large stained-glass walls and a distinctive roof structure that mixes modern and traditional elements. Clear sightlines were maintained throughout the tour to help viewers understand how the space flows from entry through to the main gathering areas.
To achieve this, the shoot was scheduled around parish agendas. High-resolution 360 panoramas were captured throughout the nave, sanctuary, choir area, and exterior forecourt, with special attention to approach routes from the car park and surrounding grounds. Multiple viewpoints were recorded to ensure the tour facilitates practical wayfinding and accessibility.
What We Loved About This Project
This project was an opportunity to document an important local community space while also capturing the architectural qualities that make the church distinctive. Beyond simply recording the site for navigation and wayfinding, the tour allows the character of the building to be experienced in context, providing viewers with a clearer understanding of the space before they arrive.
One of the standout aspects was capturing the intricacy of the stained-glass windows throughout the church. The detailed glasswork and the way natural light moves through the space add depth and visual interest, contributing to the overall atmosphere without overpowering the layout or function of the building. The tour presents these details as part of the wider architectural design rather than as isolated features.
The church’s unique star-shaped layout was another important element to document. From a practical perspective, this design influences how people move through the space and how different areas connect. The tour helps communicate this layout clearly, allowing visitors to understand the scale, orientation, and flow of the building in a way that static images cannot.
Equally important is how the tour supports the local community. By clearly showing the size of the site, the multiple entry points, and the surrounding car park, the tour helps visitors feel more confident when attending services, events, or community gatherings. The result is a visual resource that balances architectural detail with everyday usefulness, reinforcing the church’s role as a well-used and accessible community space.
About the Client
Our Lady of the Rosary Parish Kellyville is a Franciscan community serving the Hills District. Established in 1970, the parish has grown alongside the local neighbourhood and today supports two nearby Catholic primary schools. The church moved to its current location on Diana Avenue in 1976, with the existing building opening and being consecrated in 1983.
Recent upgrades to the church have focused on enhancing accessibility, circulation, and the overall experience for parishioners and visitors. These improvements include updated internal finishes, better access points, and modern audio-visual infrastructure, all carried out while respecting the character and purpose of the space.
