The Brief – 360 Virtual Tour, Live Guided Tour, Google Maps and  Floor Plans

The City of Ryde wanted to upgrade their existing virtual tours and take them to the next level. After having a detailed initial discussion with the team, we devised a solution to meet their needs. Firstly, they wanted a streamlined user experience across the board for their virtual tours, where the design and branding had to match their councils. In addition to this, we were tasked with updating their Floor Plans. This includes working with the team to update key language, standardise wording, have a consistent brand experience, and ensure it helps the team use the floor plan with the community and for internal purposes.

One feature that the City of Ryde saw benefit from is our Live Guided Tour feature. With a dedicated team managing the upkeep of the various community centres, a big part of their role is onsite visits with potential community members who want to hire the space. However, if a team member is working from home, sick or can not meet with someone for whatever reason, the live guided tour helps. With this feature now integrated into all the CIty of Ryes 360 virtual tours, they can now host Zoom/Skype style meetings inside the virtual tour. This saves travel time, helps the environment, and allows the team to meet with potential hires when they previously could not.

What We Loved About This Project

Many people may not realise that local councils provide extensive services to residents within their Local Government Area (LGA). The City of Ryde is certainly no exception to this. Across the City of Ryde, numerous community locations are available, each uniquely designed to cater to different needs, varying in size, amenities, and features. Whether you’re looking for a place to host a small meeting, a venue for a larger community event, or simply a space to engage in recreational activities, the City of Ryde offers something to suit everyone.

As the team explored these locations throughout the Northern Sydney area, they developed a deeper appreciation for councils’ vital role in enhancing community life. The diversity and quality of these facilities highlight the council’s commitment to providing spaces that bring people together, support local activities, and foster a sense of community. By visiting these venues first-hand, it became clear how much effort goes into ensuring residents have access to well-maintained, versatile spaces that meet various needs. This experience has genuinely underscored the importance of the services and facilities that the City of Ryde council provides to its community.

Fun Fact: Some team members from the City of Ryde are not only dedicated professionals but also happen to be incredibly talented musicians. It’s always a delight when work and passion intersect, and this was evident whenever we visited one of the community locations that featured a piano. Without fail, these musically gifted team members would take the opportunity to sit down and play, filling the space with beautiful melodies. Their skills at the piano were truly unrivalled, transforming our site visits into impromptu performances that showcased their artistry.
